POTTED GERANIUM
6x6 unframed oil on gessobord Not for Sale YET Click here to go to my website |
For days I walked by this gorgeous pot of geraniums and knew it had to be painted. I waited until the sun was just where I wanted it to create a most pleasing shadow. The complementary colors of red and green always make for a vibrant, happy painting. I love to paint in the impressionistic style using color to enliven the subject while paint strokes in the background direct the eye.
This painting is not for sale at this time as I plan to enter it into Randy Higbee's Small Painting Show. I hope it gets hung in his gallery where it will be for sale.
This is really lovely!!
ReplyDeleteSuper thanks for a colorist!
ReplyDeleteCarol this is gorgeous! I love the texture in the pot. The blues and the movement in the background is so pretty, and of course... the greens and reds just pop! Best of luck to you. My fingers and toes are crossed :)
ReplyDeleteThank you. You make me like it even more...for all the reasons you have given.

ReplyDeleteI love painting flowers!
ReplyDeleteLovely painting Carol. I really like your expressive brush strokes in this.
ReplyDeleteJust a thought - how about a bit of reflected terracotta in the shadow?
Did you paint this plein aire?
Good luck with the show.
Terrific suggestion. There is always reflected light. This was not done en plein air.
