I am a homebody, probably a closet introvert.  Since Fourth Grade I have loved reading.  Other than PBS and documentaries on television, I don't watch it. Reading takes me places, informs me, and entertains me.  BOOKS, books and books.  In fact just yesterday I went to a book exchange and came home with twenty new books to read.

  1. Oh I love the way this just invites me to sit down and read a bit in this lovely place. I never paint interiors, but this certainly inspires me to try! Lovely!

    1. And I would love to have you visit me, both in my reading room and painting with me in my petite studio. You are an awesome painter and your visit would be thrilling.

  2. Thank you Mary. Your work is so beautiful, I know you could paint interiors as well.

  3. Hi Carol, I love this painting! My apologies, I thought I had commented already. But no, there it is still in my inbox. I love your warm palette, the colors in the rug, the warmth in the wood. And how joyous to see more books waiting to be read, on the shelf. True luxury to me, is having a day to do nothing but read. :) Twenty books! That sounds like heaven!

    1. I have been reading and reading this entire week. It seems it was time for me to get kicked a bit to look at myself and my paintings in a new way. I have been reading Wayne Dyer's books and love how he gently opens my eyes!

    1. I wonder if being an artist and reading just naturally go together. It seems so many of artists find reading perfect relaxation.

  5. This is such a nice painting with that atmosphere that all readers would love. The carpet is gorgeously painting. I love to read to, but I don't much anymore since I paint.
