UPCOMING FEBRUARY NEWSLETTER

UPCOMING FEBRUARY NEWSLETTER

January 2015 unfolded in the nicest of ways.
I didn't see my 2015 direction which was quite unsettling.  Sometimes we need to take a deep breathe and just allow the universe to provide direction.

KJØLLEFJORD, NORWAY CHURCH

Kjøllefjord Church (Norwegian,  Kjøllefjord kirke) is a parish church in Finnmark county, Norway (located within the Arctic Circle). The white, stone church was built in 1951 and was a gift from Denmark after the Second World War. It was also the first church that was rebuilt in Finnmark county after the war.

On Christmas Day, I along with many other people walked about twenty minutes to this church carrying very large candles.  Though it was only 2:00 PM it was already getting quite dark.  We attended a Christmas service here, entirely in Norwegian.

"Winter Sunset", 16x24, pastel, framed under glass with triple mats.    As a child, I fantasized a Currier and Ives Christmas.  I studied Christmas cards, love the churches lit for services, sleighs, horses, snow and especially the book/poem "Stopping by Woods on a Snow Evening" by Robert Frost.  This painting represents me as a child.

Day Thirty: Corrales Church

In thanksgiving to all of you, I have posted a church today.  I am thankful for your support.    The Corrales Church is solid adobe, the walls probably are two feet thick.  It is cool in the summer and warms up in the winter.  I love the light and shadow on the church.

STAYED TUNED as tomorrow is the drawing for the free Little Gem...the winner chooses!

Please stay tuned to my blog as I am a daily painter and will continue to post a couple times a week.  You will definitely want to hear and see Norway at Christmas time...coming to you from the Arctic Region, the Russian and Swedish borders.

THANK YOU Leslie Saeta for setting up the challenge!
