SOUTHERN HOME

SOUTHERN HOME, unframed, 9x12, oil on museum quality panel.  $175

This is my third and last southern garden painting for the series.    I struggled with this painting because my photo had a entire bank of azalea bushes that blocked toward the home.  That required my "replanting" of the flowers.  I hope the painting works now!

Magnolia Gardens

Magnolia Gardens

It is wonderful to be painting flowers and gardens again since I was faithful during the thirty day challenge to paint only New Mexico.  But I travel whenever I can for the purposes of enjoyment and my art.   Spring at Magnolia Gardens finds azaleas everywhere.  Being there to walk the gardens, sketch the scene and the colors and smell the fragrances is truly wonderful.  This is a lovely little painting, suitable for framing or for displaying on a tabletop easel.

Day Twenty-Eight: In Pink

In PInk
Little Gem
6x8 oil on museum board
Love painting...even every day.   Most of the time it is relaxing but today I really put effort into following Julie Ford Oliver's fracturing technique and painting was a struggle.  I am not sure this is finished or how successful I was with the fracturing.

I have painted many, many flowers in my career but this month of the challenge I concentrated on NM.  Hibiscus do well here too!

Day Twenty: In the Weeds

In the Weeds
Little Gem
6x6 oil on canvas mounted
Closing in the end of the challenge...how cool is that.

I hope you read my story in yesterday's blog about finally finding these little flowers down the embankment of the bike trail.  It's a wonder I kept the bike upright coming to a stop-right-now.  (And to think I am going skiing in Norway at Christmas time, I think I am an inch away from hurting myself...but stayed tuned...)

I love these delicate little flowers so much, yet hardy enough to withstand our recent rains, I chose to paint them up close and personal.  I hope you like this painting!
