FLOWER SHOP III

FLOWER SHOP III
6x8, oil on museum quality board.

I am painting a series of flower shops for an upcoming show at the New Mexico Cancer Center Gallery, a NM top ten gallery. More information will be posted soon.

Oslo, Norway,  New Year's Eve Day, 2013, shops were open though little else was.  The day was misty, warm, and no snow was anywhere to be seen.  On this day in Oslo there was about six hours of daylight, an increase of three hours over that which I had experienced only days earlier in the Arctic.

This was a most unusual trip, with many experiences never had before and likely never to be experienced again.  I am truly grateful and
recommend we always be ready to delight in the
 unknown.

  1. This is a beautiful painting and I look forward to seeing more of your paintings for the show.

Your tip experience sounds awesome! I love traveling, but sunshine is a must for me. Otherwise I wilt.

  2. Oh Lisa, I so agree about sunshine. I live in very bright sunny NM, and during my 12 days in Norway, I never saw the sun. I tried to concentrate on Norway's beauty and its uniqueness. Once home, I opened up to the sun with joy.

  5. I love the color of the lady's jacket in with all the flowers. Makes me think of spring.
I read Lisa's comment and your reply and agree about the sun.

  7. What a journey. I love to go to Iceland and my daughter and son-in-law are going to Stockholm tomorrow just as our cousins are coming to NYC from there...so they will pass in the airport and we will see our cousins and they won't! Wonderful evocative painting. Having had chemo and rads I would have loved to gaze upon something as lovely as this during treatment. Congrats at your upcoming exhibit. Can't wait to see more paintings.
