RURAL LIFE IN FRANCE

RURAL LIFE IN FRANCE

France is an amazing country, romantic and beautiful.
In the Lot Region, the hills roll and twist as they follow river valleys.
Honestly, everywhere you look, is a scene worthy of painting.
During our artists' 10 day retreat with DreamaTollePerry (not a workshop),
we took in as much as we possibly could.
Except for two days, we visited quaint villages near our home
base in tiny Frayssinet,
a village of fewer than 300 souls.
I painted everyday, either watercolor postcards or in my watercolor journal
 or a larger oil painting.
"Rural Life in France" was a hike of about 1/2 mile from the artist compound.  My load was heavy, carrying paints, easel, and all other necessary equipment.  I didn't tire; the anticipation was great.

I have so much more to share!

  1. Beautiful painting. Love those colours.
I enjoy reading about your trip. I didn't realise you would be so close, we should have made arrangements to meet up. But you probably were too busy painting! Oh well next time maybe?

  3. Oh how jealous I am, but I'm happy you had a great time! If I was able to go I'm not sure if I could paint. I would want to soak it all in as much as possible. Looks like you did both.

  4. I didn't paint all day everyday. There was plenty of time just to see the quaint villages and shops. This really was a dream of a trip..I am almost sad it is in my rear view mirror.

  5. Hi Carol: I was going through my photos today and saw this painting as it was at the end of the workshop. Amazing what you have done to it - love the new colour harmony and soft pastels! I am considering going back into some of mine as well. Would just miss that juicy transparent under painting! Well done!

    1. The photo needs to be retaken as it is too pastel. I really didn't change it as much as you would think! Watch for a new photo...maybe tomorrow?????
